SEVEN THINGS WE WANT YOU TO KNOW

There is just so much going on in the life of the church right now, and it would be so sad for people to miss out because they A) Don’t know; or B) Don’t understand what is happening.

So here’s the TOP 7 things we really want you to know:

1. EASTER SERVICES THIS WEEKEND

Yes! We do have two services on this Easter – Good Friday at 7.30pm and Easter Sunday 10am.

Yes! These services will include a 3D movie to help tell the message of God’s gift of grace through Jesus.

Yes! 3D glasses will be provided.

No! The whole service will not be in 3D. We will still have great worship, communion, and preaching.

Yes! Both services will have full kids programs. Voltage Kids will also screen the Easter3D movie, but will leave out the scenes of Jesus’ crucifixion.

Yes! Easter is a celebration of God’s love towards us so we will have jumping castles for the kids, fairy floss, hot cross buns (all for free).

Yes! This is the perfect time to invite your family and friends to experience Easter like never before.

Yes! We would love for you to come to both services, bringing friends with you, or at least bringing the atmosphere of faith and welcome with you.

No! There will be no 5pm Project this Sunday night, as “Sunday night comes to Friday night.”

Yes! There will be lots of people there (our services have featured in the Herald Sun and other local media, plus 20,000 flyers have been distributed to the surrounding suburbs) BUT we really would love for you to be there to help make it great!

2. PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE MEETS THE 5PM PROJECT – STARTS SUNDAY 15 APRIL, 5PM

The 5pm Project is our Sunday night service. It’s church, but not like you’ve normally experienced it, including a panel discussing current affairs issues, and followed by free dinner for everyone!

Starting on Sunday 15th April, the 5pm Project will be themed around Rick Warren’s best-selling book “The Purpose Driven Life” (PDL). If you have read the book, listened to the audio-book, or done the course at some time you will know how life-changing it is.

Following great worship, the panel will discuss and one of us will preach from each chapter of the PDL. We just know that it will help us all immensely. PDL is perfect for long-time Christians, not-yet-Christians, and anyone in between!

It doesn’t matter if you miss a week – each section is a stand-alone and you can join in or bring your friends at any time.

Even if you have done PDL before, we can promise you haven’t done it like this!

3. WATER BAPTISM PARTY – SUNDAY 22 APRIL, 10AM

If you have decided to follow Jesus but have not yet been baptized in water (by your own choice, not as an infant) then now is the time!

Let our office know, let your Connect Group leader know, or register at the Info Desk on Sundays, so we can get you ready for this next step in your Christian life.

An info night will be held as part of our New-Christians Discovery class on Thursday 12th April at the church.

Water Baptism is a powerful, public declaration of your faith in Jesus, and is actually commanded in the Bible as the next step after saying Yes to Jesus.

4. “LOVE YOUR CHURCH” WORKING BEES – SATURDAY 5TH & 12TH MAY

It’s time to clean up the gardens, paint walls, wash windows, paint car park lines, remove rubbish, trim hedges and more.

There will be more than enough jobs for anyone of any ability to do!

The working bees start at 8am and finish by 12pm. You can come for an hour or the whole time – if we all pitch in we can make the place look great!

5. MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND – SUNDAY NIGHT COMES TO FRIDAY NIGHT

On Friday 11th May, Sunday night church comes to Friday night for a special service. Details coming soon, but mark it down now!

Then on Sunday 13th May, it’s Ladies Day with another powerful Acoustic Worship Experience, as we celebrate and honour all women on Mother’s Day.

6. BRIAN HOUSTON (HILLSONG CHURCH) SPEAKING AT EASTSIDE – TUESDAY 22 MAY, 7.30PM

We are so incredibly honoured to have Pastor Brian Houston, Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church, speaking in our church in May.

Not only is Hillsong Church the largest church in Australia (with around 30,000 people), it has influenced countless numbers of people all across the globe with its music, conferences, and humanitarian projects. The Hillsong church and team have been a great inspiration and encouragement to us as a church, but also to us personally as your leaders and pastors.

Ps Brian Houston is a leader of leaders, and in huge demand all around the world. His schedule means he is simply unable to speak at any other church in Australia outside of Hillsong, and so we can’t convey enough what a privilege it is to be hosting him for this one night.

This is one night not to miss – move whatever you have to now so you can be there!

A full Voltage Kids program will be provided too.

Vision Sunday

Dear Church

You have probably heard us speak about the Scripture we carried in our hearts when we came to be Senior Pastors of this great church…

“In the first year you will reap from what is already there, and in the second year you will reap from what grows from that. But in the third year, sow and reap a harvest” (Isaiah 37:30).

We are now entering into the third year and our hearts are bursting with thankfulness for the great things God is already doing, and with expectation for even greater things to come! Already this year in our church corporately and her people individually we are hearing and seeing so many signs of new levels of FAVOUR, BLESSING and INFLUENCE!

We are writing to invite you to be part of one of the most significant weekends in the church every year. This Sunday 26th February is our third VISION SUNDAY (10am) and ANOINTING SERVICE (5pm) together, and it is set to be a memorable day! It will be so great to have all of our church together for one big day as we unpack the vision so “all who hear it can run with it,” and then anoint everyone with oil as a sign of favour, blessing and influence this year.

***Also on Sunday we will be receiving a special VISION OFFERING***

There are 4 key reasons we personally prioritize giving into the Vision Offering:

1. It is a tangible way for us to connect our hearts with the vision (where your treasure is your heart is)
2. It helps to advance the church forward into the year with great strength
3. It positions us to receive the favour and blessing which God graces on the church – the blessing on the House overflows into our own house
4. It positions us to engage the principle of the FIRSTFRUIT. Firstfruits was an offering in the Bible brought at the start of every year to prepare the whole year ahead for blessing. We have done this every year since being at Eastside, and have personally seen abundant blessing in our own lives, as have many others in the church, as a direct result. Your Vision Offering firstfruit might be one weeks wages, a double-honour offering, or any amount you choose. There’s no pressure, no scoring, and no guilt trips – your Vision Offering is between you and God, and we encourage you to simply do the best you can with faith. As you do so, we know you will be blessed!

Voltage Kids will be in full swing in both services, the After Party is on after the 10am service, and you can enjoy free dinner after the 5pm service!
